Feeling Hot Hot Hot!!

I don't know how to even start describing my trip to Delhi for the NIFT counselling. Mindblowingly hectic, yes it was. Metro Madness, yes there was. A trip to remember, we will know that later. Not to mention, I got acute dehydration and it took me like five days to recover, ending today. Those of you who have not heard the term would be interested to know its serious and it can kill you if not cured in time :/

I read articles on acute dehydration and found the symptoms a little confusing. The real symptoms of acute dehydration according to my experience are:

  •  You would want to kill yourself when you walk in the sun, so keep away from sharp objects.
  •  No amount of water will quench your thirst.
  •  You wont be able to pronounce words like "czechoslovakia" and "catastrophe" because of your insanely dry tongue.
  •  Mirage!! yes that will happen a lot. I hallucinated about "Water Kingdom" every few kilometers.
  •  Do not be shocked if you start looking red like a tomato, it gets worse later.You'll start having chills out of nowhwere, chills in the hot hellhole.
  • Your body becomes a fullgrown funny bone, tingling of the limbs starts.
  • You won't recognize your friends and family after a point of time and your answer to everything would be "huh??".
  • You'll puke your guts out.
  • head rush and Collapse!!

So, always keep yourself hydrated enough if you are to travel in such adverse conditions and please rush to the nearest hospital if you make it till symptom no. 6, even if you don't you'll anyways end up there. Take it from me, Needles become your best friend and they make you eat boiled rice and drink salt water for five days, that is even worse than being jailed. Take care, don't die !!:)

The Bollywood Ishtyle!

The monsoon has hit the city, everyone is either completely drenched or has a bad cold. My friends in Lonawala(a hill station in Maharashtra) can't see each other because of the heavy fog and are afraid that they would vanish. Fortunately, I have hidden my umbrella and raincoat in a safe place(why?just refer to my third post).

I thought of just staying indoors today as I could not step out, thanks to the non stop rain. But its nice to sip a  hot cup of coffee in the cold weather and watch it rain ,sitting beside the window and listen to Bollywood songs. Baarish and Bollywood go a long way back. The best rain number from the yesteryears "pyaar hua ikraar hua" is one that i totally enjoy.

That reminds me, I am teaching a friend Hindi these days. I suggested him to listen to songs from Bollywood movies and then  translated the lines to him. I made him  listen to "Bhaag Bhaag" from "Delhi Belly" recently, which has mind blowing lyrics.  He did learn some interesting stuff like,
chuha = mouse
bhaag bhaag = run run
naag = cobra
bheja= brains
piddi= small
pigeon = kabootar(reminded him of "computer")
followed by a series of Pjs like,
"personal kabootar"
"want to watch a movie on your kabootar?"
"oh no! my kabootar just crashed!"
Also some dishes that were learned like,
parantha = (parenthesis)
vada pav = sierra nevada pav, darth vadapav

The lessons finished with a few offensive Hindi words learned from the song, which he would use on his friends one day(wink) and they would never know the meaning. Next time I plan to bring famous Bollywood dialogues to the lessons like,
"kitne aadmi the?"
"mere paas maa hai!"
"khamosh!!"
Lets see how that works out.
In exchange for this I have been learning French and Hebrew from him. Hebrew is Hebrew to me but I like French, bonjour!! Also some new English from a song that almost made it to "The Simpsons"(wink again).
I realize it has stopped raining, had a wonderful afternoon. Au revoir people!!
